A Visit to TeCC in Conjunction with Agreed Minutes Of Meetings Between PSP & Institutions from Medan, Indonesia.

On 21st March 2019, PSP has received delegates from Medan, Indonesia consisting of:

3. Drs. Zulhanif (Yayasan Pendidikan Triadi Technology)
4. Zulkifli (Yayasan Pendidikan Triadi Technology)

6. Sugiarti, SAG (Yayasan Perguruan Gajah Mada)

Part of the visit is to see the Teaching and Learning strategy used in PSP. The delegation has been brought to Technology-enabled Collaborative Classroom (TeCC) and Ms Ruhil & Mr Syafirul briefed them on CTTL functions and strategy other than sharing the facilities. The delegates were then brought to CTTL Gallery to experience 360 Virtual Reality.

WHY ANIMATED VIDEOS ARE USEFUL FOR EDUCATION

Importance of animated videos in education
Animated videos have been used particularly in a school context to enhance learner understanding by maintaining their constant concentration towards the subject matter being delivered in class. The fun present in the animation video is responsible for constraining the learner towards listening to the subject matter being conveyed. This is justified by high performances and test scores realized due to an application of such practical animation videos in classes. They have also improved learners’ practical skills by utilizing the use of the five sense organs.
1. improve the learner’s communication skills
In a class context, the learner’s level of communication skills is enhanced and nurtured by the constant use of the animated videos. This is due to the courage gained by learners through imitation and mimicry of these animation objects. Through such animations, the learner gains the confidence to stand in front of other students for the delivery of content as copied from the animation object. Students further have the opportunity to improve their language skills as grammar and sentence construction through the use of animation videos. The effect of the frequent use of these animation videos in the classroom is evident through the high level of language development and the high grammatical capacity of these students.



2. It acts as building bridges to the learners next level of learning
Animation videos have always played to prepare the learners for the next level of education. This is due to different educational skills gained through the use of these animation objects in a class. The animation objects have constantly enhanced practical skills in class and hence preparing learners for the next level of research fields. This is due to the encouragement and use of the five senses used for practicality as touch, smell, sight, hearing, and taste. This preparation of learners for research have greatly influenced their next level by making it easier due to prior knowledge on the field.
3. Animation videos have improved learner’s level of self-expression
Due to a provision of confidence and the equipment of improved grammatical competence of the learners, the level of learner’s expression has also been boosted. This becomes easy due to proper sentence construction enhanced by the use of these animated videos, high-level grammatical competence and the confidence to stand before the crowd to express their issues. This improved self-expression has led to increased student interaction amongst students and even the entire society. These students’ interactions have also increased and harmonized the student relations in schools to a brotherhood relationship making the school a home away from home.
4. Has helped to improve the learner’s technical skills
The practical skills provided have in return improved the learner’s technical skills for practically based disciplines. These technical skills include those of measuring using some different types of measuring instruments such as to measure length, volumes, and areas of different objects. This technical skills provided have also led to increased skills in the geometry of the students. Such skills provided have helped to solve different problems affecting the learners in school. By achieving this, the students’ school life has been softened and the reason for high witnessed test scores and general performances.




5. Increased learners’ presentation skills
Through imitations and the confidence gained by the learners, the learners have improved their presentations skills in their pedagogical environment. This is due to the amalgamation of the knowledge gained in class through normal teaching and the one gained through mimicry from the animated videos. The level knowledge in the learner itself promotes confidence to that particular presentation and further boosted by the experience acquired through imitation from the animated videos.  Through this, the class performance has also been boosted for the knowledge presented still remains intact in the learner.
6. Improved learner’s level of interpretation skills
Through the use of some coded information in the video animations, the learner gets to interpret some hidden information through this continuous exposure to such words and objects, the learner’s interpretation ability is boosted and thus builds on the learner’s level of critical thinking. These interpretations are further applied to practically based disciplines and it is evident in the critical interpretations of practical work and the level of practical knowledge portrayed in it.
7. Animated videos have prepared learners for future specializations
Animated videos used in class have helped to nurture learners to future specializations in different areas by promoting some specialization skills in class demonstrations. The highly improved technical skills have helped the students to specialize the fields of engineering and surveying. This is due to the experience gained towards the handling and the use of different measuring instruments. Also, the class presentations skills have made it easier for those students specializing in the field of teaching and through this many future careers have been developed.
